Sherwood is a small, run-down park frequented by the homeless near the Pack's safehouse. dead trees and untended grass pokes out sporadically between the lean-tos and shanty palaces of the disenfranchised.
Walks-Forbidden-Trails -- known here by his Homid name, Daniel Archer, typically sleeps in the back seat of his less-than-legal, old police-issue sedan.
The previous day held nothing of note, and he dozed it away, happy to be under the moderately warm glow of the city's sun.

When he awakens to spy the waiting voicemail on his newly-acquired cell phone, he lets loose a positively wolfish grin, thumbing the button to listen as he exits his car and shakes his shaggy hair out of his drawn hood, scanning the assembled to look for Maria -- to try and make sure she hadn't shot up while he was out. That she was safe.

The recorded message plays. Walks-Forbidden-Trails hears the familiar voice of NYPD Captain Harry Lawrence, somewhat diminished by the phone's tiny speaker.

"Dan... what the hell have you gotten mixed up in this time? I checked in with the detective assigned to the club shootings. His team's having a hell of a hard time making sense of anything. We've got about sixteen eyewitness reports, and none of them make a goddamn scrap of sense. One guy said there was a bear. A motherfucking bear. In Brooklyn.

"Yeah, I don't know what half these kids are on... Whatever it is, something panicked the crowd. A lot of shooting from what we can tell. Crime scene techs are still running ballistics. No bodies, though. That's unusual, considering how much firepower these guys cut loose.

"Suppose I shouldn't ask how you got involved in this. I ran a check on Morris Blackwood. No criminal record. Lives in an apartment in Manhattan. Anything else you can tell me about this guy? I can't get a warrant on just a name-drop.

"Look, I've got to get back to work here. Call me when you get this."

[Snatches-Food is enroute, she will probably arrive after Walks has time to do a thing.]

Dan slid the phone in a grimy pocket, debating whether or not he should actually call back immediately.
He decided to text, instead.
"Got that addy? Can connect, but need time. Sure of this. Casings @ scene show traces of silver. Look @ that. Can acquire slugs if need proof."

The message doesn't elicit an immediate response. About fifteen minutes pass. A homeless woman passes by, taking care to stay at least twenty feet away from Walks-Forbidden-Trails... like most humans, she's instinctively unnerved by a werewolf's Rage, and Walks' Rage is powerful. Nearby, an ambulance roars past, sirens blaring.

By now, Snatches-Food-Under-Nose is close by.

An electronic chirp indicates a new message. It includes an address of a condo building around Midtown, and reads:
"You didn't hear this from me."

Snatches-Food notices with some distaste that Black-Fur has decided to follow her. Blast, she'd never be able to sneak about with him plodding along behind. Maybe Walks would have something to occupy his attention with. Snatches-Food pads over to Walks. She paws the car door, asking to be let in.

[Mates-with-Mothers]

[[Dan isn't in the car, so...]]
Walks-Forbidden-Trails grins and pockets the phone with the important message, walking over to the lupine Snatches-Food and gives her a quick scratch behind the ear.
"Hey there. Was actually about to go looking for you. You interested in some crime?" he whispered, moving his head like he was speaking to a puppy to detract from the odd sight of a hobo petting a strange, massive, predatory dog.
"Because I got us a lead on some crime that needs doin'. First were gunna steal some gas, then we're gunna do all sorts of terrible things to terrible, terrible people who are friends with leeches. Whaddaya say?"

Snatches-Food was pleasantly surprised. She hadn't taken Walks for the crime committing type. She wags her tail happily at the prospect of the imminent crime spree. And who knows, maybe after this she could throw her other pack mates a bone...

Snatches-Food will bark excitedly and jump in the car.

Black-Fur pads up, looking a bit askance at Snatches-Food and Walks-Forbidden-Trails. Seeing a Lupus sister act so much like the broken dogs the apes had turned his cousins into hurt, but the pride of his breeding would not allow him to show that in front of the rest of his pack.

Swallowing his rage and sorrow at what the humans had wrought, Black-Fur squares his shoulders and presents a powerful, commanding presence as he approaches his fellow Garou. In the tongue of the Garou, he asks, "We hunt?"

Oh, Black-Fur. As regal looking as he is, an excited large dog does not stand out in the middle of a city, while a large wolf exuding a commanding presence does.

"Yes, we'll be making noise in the undergrowth to startle the leeches out of hiding. Which means we'll be ambushing them, rather than just wandering around until one of them decides to shoot at us. So we'll want to be stealthy."

Snatches-Food vaguely wonders if he grasps the concept.

Black-Fur nods. "So, we hunt."

He gives Snatches-Food an odd look, wondering why she felt the need to specify. But then, perhaps she is not a true wild wolf after all; perhaps she has never run with a pack of her own.

Snatches-Food returns the odd look, she has a feeling Black-Fur is concerned about something, but she's not entirely sure what.

"Yes, we hunt. Where exactly are we hunting, Walks?"

[Huhhhhh... Should we just assume he explains it?]

[That may be for the best.]

Snatches-Food listens starstruck by his explanation. Truly, it was one of the most explanatory explanations she ever had the privilege to have explained to her, with it's succinctness only matched by it's attention to detail, it's planning and foresight only matched by it's accounting for flexibility and spur of the moment decisions. Unfortunately she remembered that Black-Fur was in the room and spent the remainder of the explanation concentrating on not oggling at him, and completely lost track. Alas, 'tis the fate of many great works of art, especially those woven of the spoken word, to be lost to the ravages of time on those with poor short term memory.

After Walks had stopped speaking, Snatches-Food realized with a start that a response was expected of her, and hurriedly wiped away any drool that may have accumulated.

"Sounds like a plan! Let's be off, then!"

As sophisticated a plan as it was, it was a plan that would come later, when Walks had enacted his part of the plan that would occupy him for an as-yet undetermined period of time. Thanking Walks for the ride, Snatches-Food will hop out of the car and into the hoity-toity upper class district, padding off to a jeweler's store.
